Highly active Pt/In2O3-ZrO2 catalyst for CO2 hydrogenation to methanol with enhanced CO tolerance: The effects of ZrO2

Kaihang Sun et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates high activity and enhanced CO tolerance for CO2 hydrogenation to methanol on Pt/In2O3-ZrO2 catalyst. The addition of ZrO2 enables stronger electron transfer between Pt and In2O3-ZrO2, leading to weaker CO adsorption and improved CO tolerance of Pt catalyst. The ZrO2-modified oxygen vacancy promotes CO2 activation.

Unraveling the promoting roles of sulfate groups on propane combustion over Pt-SO42-/ZrO2 catalysts

Dan-Dan Li et al.

Summary: Pt-SO42-/ZrO2 catalysts with different SO42- contents were used for propane combustion. The addition of SO42- significantly improves the catalytic activity by promoting the synergy between Pt species and superacid sites for C-C bond activation. However, excessive SO42- reduces the exposed Pt sites.

Chemoselective Oxidation of Glycerol over Platinum-Based Catalysts: toward the Role of Oxide Promoter

Dan Yang et al.

Summary: Metal oxide promoters remarkably enhance the catalytic activity of supported Pt catalysts in the glycerol oxidation reaction. Using manganese dioxide as a model, it has been found that the superior catalytic performance is mainly due to the increased synergistic interaction between Pt particles and the metal oxides, leading to enhanced activation of oxygen.

Phase tuning of ZrO2 supported cobalt catalysts for hydrodeoxygenation of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural to 2,5-dimethylfuran under mild conditions

Tianci Xiao et al.

Summary: The crystal structure of catalyst support plays a significant role in influencing its surface and electronic properties, thereby affecting catalytic activity. By preparing monoclinic, tetragonal, and mixed phase Co/ZrO2 catalysts, different hydrogenation and hydrogenolysis activities were observed in the conversion of HMF to DMF. The interaction between cobalt and t-ZrO2 resulted in higher hydrogenation activity, while the presence of acid concentration on the surface of Co/m-ZrO2 led to higher efficiency in hydrogenolysis reactions. The combination of high hydrogenation and hydrogenolysis activities in Co/Mix-ZrO2 achieved the highest yield of DMF under mild conditions.

Reaction pathway investigation using in situ Fourier transform infrared technique over Pt/CuO and Pt/TiO2 for selective glycerol oxidation

Guandong Wu et al.

Summary: In this study, it was found that the supports themselves could enhance catalyst activity and affect product selectivity. Through experiments on glycerol oxidation, it was observed that doping Pt significantly increased the activity of Pt/CuO and Pt/TiO2 catalysts, with different oxidation selectivity between them. Additionally, in situ FTIR spectra confirmed the specific selectivity of the catalysts.

Kinetics decoupling activity and selectivity of Pt nanocatalyst for enhanced glycerol oxidation performance

Wenyao Chen et al.

Summary: In this study, a kinetics and mechanistic strategy was used to investigate the significantly improved activity and selectivity of Pt-catalyzed glycerol oxidation. The activity enhancement was found to mainly result from changes in the quantity of Pt active sites. Additionally, the atomic structure of the PtSb catalyst was shown to play a crucial role in activating active sites for hydroxyl activation.

Facile ball-milling synthesis of CeO2/g-C3N4 Z-scheme heterojunction for synergistic adsorption and photodegradation of methylene blue: Characteristics, kinetics, models, and mechanisms

Xiaoqian Wei et al.

Summary: In this study, novel Z-scheme heterojunction CeO2/g-C3N4 nanocomposites were synthesized by ball milling, showing enhanced photocatalytic activity in comparison to individual CeO2 and g-C3N4. The synergistic interaction between adsorption and photodegradation was investigated, revealing a strong positive correlation and providing insights into the synergy between the two processes. This work not only offers a facile synthesis method for Z-scheme heterojunction photocatalysts, but also a new perspective for better understanding their combined effects.
