Integrated chemo- and biocatalytic processes: a new fashion toward renewable chemicals production from lignocellulosic biomass

Zhu Chen et al.

Summary: Concerns over climate change and environmental pollution have led to the exploration of green alternatives for chemical and fuel production. Utilizing lignocellulosic biomass as a replacement for petroleum refining shows promise. While biological and chemical catalysis are the main routes for lignocellulose conversion, limitations exist when relying solely on either method. Integrating biocatalysts with chemocatalysts can leverage their strengths, improving product yield and selectivity while reducing costs and waste generation.

Chloride Adsorbates Enhance the Photocarrier Separation and Promote the Bio-Syngas Evolution

Zhe Zhang et al.

Summary: This study reports the pivotal effect of chloride adsorbates on the separation of photocarriers and the enhancement of photocatalytic syngas evolution. Chloride adsorbed on the surface of CdS increases the internal electric field and promotes charge separation and migration. The delocalization of surface holes on specific sites in CdS-Cl can reduce hole mobility and prolong the lifetime of photocarriers, resulting in an 11-fold increase in the photocatalytic syngas evolution from glycerol.

Surface-active site engineering: Synergy of photo- and supermolecular catalysis in hydrogen transfer enables biomass upgrading and H2 evolution

Ye Meng et al.

Summary: The appropriate regulation of photocatalyst band structure by introducing active sites is an effective strategy for constructing efficient photocatalytic systems for biomass valorization. In this study, a renewed host-guest photocatalyst (Ov-WO3@CB[5]) was prepared by anchoring cucurbit[5]uril on oxygen vacancy-rich WO3. High-efficiency catalytic hydrodeoxygenation of lignin-derived vanillin with nickel-supported metal phosphate catalysts

Jie Gao et al.

Summary: In this study, a series of Ni loaded metal phosphates catalysts were prepared for the hydrodeoxygenation of lignin-derived vanillin.
