Tuning charge distribution of Ru nanoparticles via coupling ammonium tungsten bronze as Pt-Like electrocatalyst for hydrogen evolution reaction

Weidong He et al.

Summary: Reasonable structure design and fine electronic modulation are the keys to achieving platinum-like performance on Ru-based catalyst. In this study, the integration of Ru nanoparticles with β-HATB nanowires as an acidic electrocatalyst showed excellent catalytic activity similar to platinum. The optimized kinetics of hydrogen adsorption/desorption behavior on Ru surface by β-HATB and the stable and fast charge transfer channel contributed to the improved catalytic activity.

Quantitative determination of base-catalyzed hydrolysis kinetics of methyltrimethoxysilane by in-situ Raman spectroscopy

Guangsheng Luo et al.

Summary: A thorough understanding of the hydrolysis reaction of alkoxysilanes is of great significance to the synthesis of silicone resins. In this work, a fast and quantitative method using in-situ Raman spectroscopy was developed to determine the base-catalyzed hydrolysis kinetics of methyltrimethoxysilane (MTMS). The method provided real-time monitoring of the rapid hydrolysis reaction and determination of reaction kinetic parameters using the initial rate method. The study also established a mathematical model for the heterogeneous hydrolysis process, which can predict the time required for the disappearance of MTMS microdroplets and provide guidance for process design and quality control.

Early-stage kinetics and char structural evolution during CO2 gasification of Morupule coal in a wire-mesh reactor

Kagiso Bikane et al.

Summary: This study investigates the gasification kinetics of Morupule coal in atmospheric pressure CO2 and the structural evolution of residual chars. The research shows that gasification reaction rates are high, with little impact on the bulk chemical structure of chars but significant changes in surface chemistry. Residual chars from gasification experiments exhibit lower combustion reactivity compared to chars produced under inert pyrolysis conditions.

Dioxygen Activation Kinetics over Distinct Cu Site Types in Cu-Chabazite Zeolites

Daniel T. Bregante et al.

Summary: Cu-exchanged zeolites can activate O-2 to form active sites for partial methane oxidation, nitrogen oxide decomposition, and carbon monoxide oxidation. The kinetics of O-2 activation depend on the types and distribution of Cu sites within the zeolites, influenced by the arrangement of framework Al atoms. Experimental and theoretical analyses reveal the complex processes by which Cu ions activate O-2 to form active Cu(x)O(y) complexes, shedding light on the mechanisms underlying these reactions.
