Integrating multiple redox-active sites and universal electrode-active features into covalent triazine frameworks for organic alkali metal-ion batteries

Juan Chu et al.

Summary: This study successfully constructed universal organic alkali metal-ion batteries by synthesizing redox-active polymers with multiple redox-active sites and multiple functions. The crystalline and amorphous polymers were systematically studied, and it was found that the amorphous polymer with more active sites and shortened ion diffusion paths exhibited superior performance. The integration of different functional groups in the polymer structure enabled it to have abundant active centers, the ability to absorb ions, and universal electrode-active features at high and low potential.

β-Ketoenamine-Linked Covalent Organic Framework with Co Intercalation: Improved Lithium-Storage Properties and Mechanism for High-Performance Lithium-Organic Batteries

Han Wang et al.

Summary: In this study, a facile one-step synthesis process was proposed to obtain the cobalt ion intercalated two-dimensional beta-ketoenamine-linked COF (Co-COF). The intercalation of Co ion greatly improved the Li+ storage ability of COF, leading to substantial improvement on the reversible capacity and cycling performance as an anode for lithium-ion batteries. The metal ion intercalation in COF materials can promote their morphology justification and/or performance improvement, which would benefit their application in other energy-storage fields.

Summary: In this study, covalent triazine frameworks (CTFs-1) were synthesized with vertical pores and layered spaces for efficient Li+ transfer, showing superlithiation property with high specific capacities and stable cycling performance at high current densities. The ultrahigh capacity of CTFs-1-400 is mainly attributed to the capacitance of micropores and the redox capacity of benzene and triazine rings. Additionally, CTFs-1-400 exhibits almost no capacity fading for 1000 cycles at 1 A g(-1).
