Bilinear Backlund, Lax pairs, breather waves, lump waves and soliton interaction of (2+1)-dimensional non-autonomous Kadomtsev-Petviashvili equation

Subrata Roy et al.

Summary: This article discusses the integrability of the Kadomtsev-Petviashvili (KP) equation with an external force and damping using Painleve analysis. The Hirota's approach is used to obtain multi-soliton solutions, and the interaction of solitary waves is investigated. It is found that autonomous solitons maintain their shape after collision, while non-autonomous solitons change their shape and direction. The background also changes significantly due to external forces. Lump-type wave and mixed soliton solutions are derived, and their interaction with strip solitons and lump waves is studied graphically. The motion characteristics of the waves are influenced by damping and forcing terms, as confirmed through analytical and numerical analysis.

Nonlinear solitary waves in particle metamaterials with local resonators

Qi Lu et al.

Summary: This work investigates the solitary wave solutions of particle mechanical metamaterials with a mass-in-mass structure and local resonators. The Hertzian contact theory is employed to describe adjacent particles in a precompressed granular chain. The governing wave equations are decoupled, and the expressions of bright, dark, and peaked solitary waves are derived. It is found that both wave velocity and prestress have an impact on the propagation of solitary waves, and the amplitudes of bright and peaked solitary waves are smaller with larger prestress.

Approximate Solution of Homogeneous and Nonhomogeneous 5αth-Order Space-Time Fractional KdV Equations

Swapan Biswas et al.

Summary: The Lagrangian of the 5th KdV equation is derived using the semi-inverse method in this paper, and fractional derivatives are used to obtain the space-time fractional KdV equation. The homotopy analysis method is then applied to solve this equation, and numerical solutions are compared with analytical solutions.

Analytical solutions of fractional Schrodinger equation and thermal properties of Morse potential for some diatomic molecules

U. S. Okorie et al.

Summary: Using the conformable fractional Nikiforov-Uvarov (NU) method, the study successfully solved the fractional Schrodinger equation with the Morse potential in one dimension, determining analytical expressions for bound state energy eigenvalues and eigenfunctions. Numerical computations were conducted for diatomic molecules, and the variation of energy eigenvalues for the Morse potential of hydrogen dimer and related thermodynamic properties were discussed with selected fractional parameters. Unique findings were presented, not reported in existing literature.

Solitary waves travelling along an unsmooth boundary

Ji-Huan He et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the properties of solitary waves under non-smooth boundary conditions, finding that the peak of a solitary wave is weakly influenced. By using a fractional KdV equation as an example, the study discusses the solitary wave's solution properties along an unsmooth boundary.

Quantitative evaluation of surface roughness for granular materials using Gaussian filter method

Yang Li et al.

Summary: This study introduces a methodology to measure surface roughness of granular materials using a Gaussian filter and known roughness surfaces, determining optimal cut-off wavelengths for various materials. An empirical regression equation is derived to describe the relationship between root mean square roughness, particle size, and cut-off wavelength. The application of this Gaussian filter method is validated for different shapes of granular materials, including glass beads and natural sand grains.
