Polygons of quantized vortices in Bose-Einstein condensates with a circular trap

Angel Paredes et al.

Summary: We investigate a cold atom Bose-Einstein condensate in a circular trap with repulsive atom-atom interactions, described by a two-dimensional time-dependent Gross-Pitaevskii equation. We analyze the existence and properties of stationary nonlinear waves with propagation-invariant density profiles, composed of vortices arranged in regular polygons rotating around the system center. We study the stability and evolution of these vortex structures using numerical simulations of the Gross-Pitaevskii equation.

Berezinskii-Kosterlitz-Thouless phase transition with Rabi-coupled bosons

Koichiro Furutani et al.

Summary: We theoretically investigate the Berezinskii-Kosterlitz-Thouless transition in a binary mixture of bosonic atoms with Rabi coupling. The transition temperature shows a nonmonotonic behavior with respect to the intercomponent coupling and an amplification for finite Rabi coupling. By developing the Nelson-Kosterlitz renormalization-group equations, we clarify the dependence of the transition temperature on the Rabi coupling and the intercomponent coupling. Our results contribute to the understanding of multicomponent quantum systems, such as multiband superconductors.

Spin-current instability at a magnetic domain wall in a ferromagnetic superfluid: A generation mechanism of eccentric fractional skyrmions

Hiromitsu Takeuchi

Summary: This study investigates the impact of spin current on a magnetic domain wall in spinful superfluids, revealing that the stability of the wall is affected when the velocity exceeds the critical spin-current velocities. The study also discovers a mechanism for generating an eccentric fractional skyrmion, which has a fractional topological charge, in contrast to conventional skyrmions observed in easy-axis magnets.

Collective Excitations and Nonequilibrium Phase Transition in Dissipative Fermionic Superfluids

Kazuki Yamamoto et al.

Summary: We predict a new mechanism to induce collective excitations and a nonequilibrium phase transition of fermionic superfluids via a sudden switch on of two-body loss, for which we extend the BCS theory to fully incorporate a change in particle number. The dissipation-induced collective modes and nonequilibrium phase transition can be realized with ultracold fermionic atoms subject to inelastic collisions. When dissipation is introduced to one of the two superfluids coupled via a Josephson junction, it gives rise to a nonequilibrium dynamical phase transition characterized by the vanishing dc Josephson current.

Exciting the Goldstone Modes of a Supersolid Spin-Orbit-Coupled Bose Gas

Kevin T. Geier et al.

Summary: This study proposes observable features for detecting supersolidity in harmonically trapped spin-orbit-coupled Bose-Einstein condensates, and provides signatures of Goldstone modes associated with supersolidity. The system behavior undergoes drastic changes at the critical Raman coupling, with distinctive axial breathing oscillations observed above the transition.
