Effect of microstructure on thermal and mechanical properties of solid solutions Al2TiO5 - MgTi2O5

Kamil Kornaus et al.

Summary: Aluminium titanate tialite is a compound with pseudobrookite structure, its polycrystals exhibit valuable thermal properties but can undergo thermal decomposition at high temperatures. By adding different cations, stable solid solutions can be formed, while adding SiO2 or ZrO2 leads to the formation of secondary phases diffusion barriers.

Effect of nanostructuring on thermal stability and decomposition of aluminium titanate (Al2TiO5): A phase transformation study

Abolfazl Azarniya et al.

Summary: The recent research focus has been on the thermal instability of aluminium titanate (AT) as a refractory ceramic, with findings indicating that different factors can influence its decomposition and physical properties. The study showed that reducing the grain size to 30 nm can destabilize AT, lowering the reaction temperature to 300 degrees C from 900 degrees C, but does not affect the majority of AT ceramic decomposition temperature. Additionally, the thermal instability of AT nanostructure exhibits slow kinetics, making it resistant to complete decomposition even with heat treatment at 1200 degrees C for 5 hours.

The abnormal multiple dielectric relaxation responses of Al3+ and Nb5+ co-doped rutile TiO2 ceramics

Xiao-gang Zhao et al.

Summary: Al3+ and Nb5+ co-doped rutile TiO2 ceramic samples were prepared by solid state reaction, showing colossal permittivity with abnormal multiple dielectric relaxation properties. The high dielectric constant is attributed to thermal activation of electrons, polaron hopping polarization, and interfacial polarization.

Summary: Inorganic pigments based on AB(2)O(4) spinel structures with green color were successfully synthesized via the polymeric route, and the effect of substitution on the properties of the pigments was studied. The synthesized nanopowders showed shades of green color and improved morphology for substituted samples, with Ni0.5Co0.5CrAlO4 nanoparticles displaying quasi-spherical grains of 50-75 nm sizes.
