AZD4547 targets the FGFR/Akt/SOX2 axis to overcome paclitaxel resistance in head and neck cancer

Abdulmelik Aytatli et al.

Summary: The study showed that the FGFR/Akt/SOX2 axis was overexpressed in tumor tissues compared to normal tissues, and AZD4547 effectively suppressed the expression of FGFR and its downstream targets in recombinant FGF2 treated HNSCC cells. Additionally, AZD4547 reduced the viability, migration, and colony forming capacity of HNSCC cells, with a potentiated impact when co-treated with taxol. This suggests that AZD4547 may be a promising therapeutic agent to overcome taxol-resistance in HNSCC.

BCAR3 promotes head and neck cancer growth and is associated with poor prognosis

Ze Zhang et al.

Summary: BCAR3 is overexpressed in HNSCC, associated with perineural invasion (PNI) and poor survival. Silencing BCAR3 significantly attenuated HNSCC cell proliferation, while BCAR3 depletion inhibited tumor growth in vitro. Functional enrichment analyses and GSEA predicted BCAR3 expression in HNSCC to be associated with biological processes such as cell adhesion, actin binding, cadherin binding, and angiogenesis.

CASC11 promotes aggressiveness of prostate cancer cells through miR-145/IGF1R axis

Ozel Capik et al.

Summary: This study investigated the potential functions of CASC11 in prostate cancer progression. The results showed that upregulation of CASC11 promotes cellular phenotypes associated with prostate cancer progression through the CASC11/miR-145/IGF1R axis.

Targeting PD-L1 (Programmed death-ligand 1) and inhibiting the expression of IGF2BP2 (Insulin-like growth factor 2 mRNA-binding protein 2) affect the proliferation and apoptosis of hypopharyngeal carcinoma cells

Xudong Yang et al.

Summary: In hypopharyngeal carcinoma, knocking down IGF2BP2 inhibits cell proliferation and promotes apoptosis, while both a PD-L1 inhibitor and IGF2BP2 knockdown reduce tumor volume and weight. Additionally, an interaction between PD-L1 and IGF2BP2 was confirmed.
