Permanent pacemaker implantation and left bundle branch block with self-expanding valves - a SCOPE 2 subanalysis

Costanza Pellegrini et al.

Summary: The incidence and impact of new LBBB and PPI were assessed in a comparison of ACURATE neo and CoreValve Evolut devices. The study found that the ACURATE neo valve had lower rates of PPI and LBBB compared to the CoreValve Evolut valve. PPI at 30 days did not affect 1-year mortality, but LBBB at 30 days was associated with reduced ejection fraction at 1 year.

Anatomical Predictors of Pacemaker Dependency After Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement

Luca Nai Fovino et al.

Summary: Less than half of TAVR patients needing pacemaker implantation are pacemaker-dependent at midterm follow-up. Factors predicting long-term pacemaker dependency after TAVR include left ventricular outflow tract calcifications under the left coronary cusp and ΔMSID >= 3 mm.

Systematic Approach to High Implantation of SAPIEN-3 Valve Achieves a Lower Rate of Conduction Abnormalities Including Pacemaker Implantation

Yasser Sammour et al.

Summary: The study showed that using a high deployment technique for the S3 valve can significantly reduce conduction abnormalities and permanent pacemaker requirement after transcatheter aortic valve replacement. The novel technique consistently achieves higher implantation without compromising procedural safety or valve hemodynamics in a cohort of 1028 patients.

Incidence, Predictors, and Implications of Permanent Pacemaker Requirement After Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement

Yasser Sammour et al.

Summary: Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) is a safe alternative to surgery for patients with severe aortic stenosis, but conduction abnormalities requiring permanent pacemaker (PPM) implantation after the procedure are common and need to be carefully monitored. Research suggests that pre-existing conduction abnormalities may increase the risk of PPM implantation and mortality after TAVR.
