Butyl butyrate, Jet A-1 and their blends: Combustion performance in the swirl stabilized burner at different inlet air temperature

Manish Kumar et al.

Summary: The limited sources of fossil fuels and pollutant emissions are major challenges for the aviation industry. Researchers are exploring alternative fuels such as biofuels, and butyl butyrate shows promising combustion properties. In this study, the combustion characteristics of butyl butyrate, Jet A-1, and their blends were investigated experimentally. The results showed that butyl butyrate and its blends had lower emissions of NOx and CO compared to Jet A-1.

Preparation and catalytic performance of NiO-MnO2/Nb2O5-TiO2 for one-step synthesis of 2-ethylhexanol from n-butyraldehyde

Sibo Li et al.

Summary: The NiO-MnO2/Nb2O5-TiO2 catalyst prepared by reduction-in-reaction technique shows excellent performance in delaying formation of metal sites, suppressing direct hydrogenation, and improving selectivity of 2-ethylhexanol. With a Ni/Mn mass ratio of 10 and NiO MnO2 loading of 14.3 wt%, the catalyst achieves 90.0% selectivity for 2EHO at complete conversion of n-butyraldehyde, and can be reused for four cycles without significant loss of catalytic activity.

Efficient Strategy to Alleviate the Inhibitory Effect of Lignin-Derived Compounds for Enhanced Butanol Production

Shrikant A. Survase et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the impact of lignosulfonate on ABE production and proposed a technique to overcome lignosulfonate inhibitory action. Addition of soy meal was shown to enhance Clostridium acetobutylicum survival and increase butanol concentration during fermentation. The transcriptional analysis revealed upregulation of key genes in clostridial metabolic pathways in the presence of soy meal.
