Continuous structural deformation of graphene oxide liquid crystal colloids under shear for hydrogel films

Yul Hui Shim et al.

Summary: This study investigates the in-situ analysis of structural deformation for 2D colloidal liquid crystals, focusing on the reorientation of the liquid crystal under oscillatory shear. The results show that the addition of polymers can effectively control the macroscopic alignment of the liquid crystal. This research is of great significance for understanding and controlling the microstructure and physical properties of 2D colloidal liquid crystals.

The role of lateral size of MXene nanosheets in membrane filtration of dyeing wastewater: Membrane characteristic and performance

Jing Xiang et al.

Summary: The influence of the lateral size of MXene nanosheets on the performance of MXene membranes was investigated. It was found that MXene(S)-M membrane with the smallest lateral size exhibited the largest surface roughness and reduced surface hydrophilicity, resulting in the highest water permeance due to its shortest mass transfer pathway. On the other hand, MXene(L)-M and MXene(M)-M membranes with larger lateral size promoted higher dye rejection due to their longer mass transport pathway.

Aspect ratio dependent viscoelastic properties of graphene oxide liquid crystals

Mahesh Kumar Yadav et al.

Summary: This study presents a systematic investigation of the size-dependent viscoelastic properties of aqueous suspensions of graphene oxide (GO). The results show that the viscoelastic properties of GO suspensions strongly depend on the size of GO sheets. All GO dispersions exhibit an isotropic phase at low volume fractions and a nematic liquid crystalline phase above critical volume fractions.

The Origin of the Sheet Size Predicament in Graphene Macroscopic Papers

Jiahao Lin et al.

Summary: The large size of graphene sheets can lead to negative size effect due to the formation of wrinkles. By using wrinkle engineering strategy, the size predicament can be resolved, leading to ultra-high mechanical strength and superior functionalities of graphene materials. The origin of this size effect highlights the importance of modulating wrinkles in graphene macroscopic materials.
