Leak-free, high latent heat and self-cleaning phase change materials supported by layered cellulose/Fe3O4 skeleton for light-to-thermal energy conversion

Jiankang Zhang et al.

Summary: This study presents the fabrication of composite phase change materials (PCMs) with enhanced properties by incorporating Fe3O4 nanoparticles into a cellulose skeleton. The obtained composite PCMs exhibit excellent encapsulation effect, high thermal conductivity, enhanced light absorption capacity, and light-to-thermal conversion efficiency. Furthermore, the composite PCM coated with hydrophobic resin demonstrates promising potentials for thermal regulation of intelligent buildings.

Lightweight, strong, and form-stable cellulose nanofibrils phase change aerogel with high latent heat

Mingyao Song et al.

Summary: By utilizing Pickering emulsion templating technique, a strong and form-stable CNF/PCM composite aerogel with a latent heat of 173.59 J.g(-1) was successfully fabricated. The composite aerogel shows good stability at 80 degrees C, relatively low thermal conductivity, and no leakage after multiple heating/cooling cycles.
