Lipoteichoic acid from Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis BPL1: a novel postbiotic that reduces fat deposition via IGF-1 pathway

Ferran Balaguer et al.

Summary: The probiotic strain Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis BPL1 with its lipoteichoic acid (LTA) has shown to ameliorate obesity biomarkers, even under hyperglycemic conditions. However, this fat-reducing capacity is abolished under glucose restriction due to changes in LTA chemical composition. It has been demonstrated that LTA exerts fat-reducing function through the IGF-1 pathway, similar to the BPL1 strain, suggesting the potential therapeutic and preventive applications of LTA as a novel postbiotic in metabolic syndrome and diabetes-related disorders.

Structure and Anti-Inflammation Potential of Lipoteichoic Acids Isolated from Lactobacillus Strains

Qianqian Lu et al.

Summary: LTA molecules derived from different Lactobacillus strains exhibit heterogeneity and contribute to the distinguishable adhesion properties of Lactobacillus strains. These LTAs can alleviate inflammatory responses and block certain inflammatory pathways, making them potential alternative therapeutics for ulcerative colitis treatment.

Bifidobacterium animalis KV9 and Lactobacillus vaginalis FN3 alleviated β-lactoglobulin-induced allergy by modulating dendritic cells in mice

Xiaoying Tian et al.

Summary: This study investigated the mechanism of probiotics in reducing allergic reactions and regulating immune cell function using beta-lactoglobulin-sensitized mice as models. The results showed that oral administration of Bifidobacterium animalis KV9 and Lactobacillus vaginalis FN3 significantly reduced allergic symptoms and histamine levels in mice. The probiotics also induced immature dendritic cells and promoted T-cell differentiation into Th1 cells, correcting the skewed immune response. These findings suggest that KV9 and FN3 have potential as alternative therapeutic agents for mitigating food allergy.

Viability Status-Dependent Effect of Bifidobacterium longum ssp. longum CCM 7952 on Prevention of Allergic Inflammation in Mouse Model

Marcelina Joanna Pyclik et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that untreated Bifidobacterium strains have allergy-reducing properties, significantly suppressing airway inflammation and decreasing Th2-related cytokines and eosinophils. In contrast, heat-treated Bifidobacterium strains only reduced some inflammation markers while increasing other inflammatory cells.
