Prognostic value of a novel glycolysis-related gene expression signature for gastrointestinal cancer in the Asian population

Rong Xia et al.

Summary: By analyzing gene expression and clinical data of Asian GI cancer patients, a five-gene expression signature including NUP85, HAX1, GNPDA1, HDLBP, and GPD1 was established in this study. This signature can independently predict the prognosis of GI cancers in Asian patients with high sensitivity and specificity.

Intratumoral heterogeneity in cancer progression and response to immunotherapy

Ilio Vitale et al.

Summary: Tumors evolve under various pressures and exhibit considerable heterogeneity in genetic, phenotypic, and behavioral aspects. This intratumoral heterogeneity influences disease progression and treatment sensitivity, necessitating consideration of multiple levels of heterogeneity in future therapeutic approaches.

Oxaliplatin-Induced Senescence in Colorectal Cancer Cells Depends on p14ARF-Mediated Sustained p53 Activation

Maja T. Tomicic et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates that oxaliplatin can induce cellular senescence in colorectal cancer cells, particularly in those with p53 proficiency and p14(ARF) expression. The induction of senescence by oxaliplatin is associated with G2-phase arrest and activation of p53/p21(CIP1) pathway, highlighting the importance of these factors in cytostatic drug-based tumor therapy.

Immunotherapy in colorectal cancer: current achievements and future perspective

Ahui Fan et al.

Summary: Immunotherapy has shown significant progress in treating colorectal cancer, with the approval of two PD-1 antibodies and successful outcomes in first-line treatment reported in the past two years. Attention is also paid to predictive biomarkers for immunotherapy, with promising results in different types of colorectal cancer treatments.
