This article describes and illustrates a newly discovered species of Protium inversum, adding to the growing number of Andean species in this genus.
Protium inversum (Burseraceae), is described and illustrated, adding to the number of recently revealed montane Andean species in this genus. Its obovoid fruits are unique in the genus, and it is one of a very few congeners with a red pseudaril.
