Two Bordetella bronchiseptica attenuated vaccine candidates confer protection against lethal challenge with B. Bronchiseptica and Pasteurella multocida toxin in mouse models

Yue Zhang et al.

Summary: This study successfully expressed fragments of Pasteurella multocida toxin in an attenuated strain of Bordetella bronchiseptica, generating single-component mucosal vaccine candidates. Vaccination with these engineered strains induced immune responses and provided protection against Bordetella bronchiseptica and Pasteurella multocida toxin in a mouse model.

Novel Synthetic Lipopeptides as Potential Mucosal Adjuvants Enhanced SARS-CoV-2 rRBD-Induced Immune Response

Ling Mao et al.

Summary: This study investigated the relationship between the peptide sequence in lipopeptides and their TLR2 activity. It was found that certain lipopeptides exhibited stronger TLR2 activity and adjuvant effects, which could potentially be used as adjuvants for COVID-19 vaccines.

Oral Immunization with Attenuated Salmonella Choleraesuis Expressing the P42 and P97 Antigens Protects Mice against Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae Challenge

Guodong Zhou et al.

Summary: Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae (Mhp) is the main pathogen of porcine enzootic pneumonia, which is a highly infectious and economically significant respiratory disease in pigs. In this study, recombinant attenuated Salmonella vaccines expressing the P42 and P97 antigens of Mhp were evaluated for their immune responses and protection. The results showed that the oral inoculation of these vaccines induced strong mucosal, cell-mediated, and humoral immunity. The delivery of protective antigens with recombinant attenuated Salmonella vectors may be an effective way to combat Mhp infection. The novel vaccine candidate strain rSC0016(pS-P42) showed great potential for use in the pig breeding industry.

Immunogenicity and protective efficacy of the recombinant Pastureland multocida lipoproteins VacJ and PlpE, and outer membrane protein H from P. multocida A:1 in ducks

Yajuan Li et al.

Summary: This study successfully cloned and expressed three proteins of the duck cholera pathogen, and formulated subunit and killed vaccines. The results demonstrated that the subunit vaccines generated significant antibody responses and provided varying degrees of protection. These findings indicate the potential of recombinant PlpE or OmpH fusion proteins as vaccine candidates for duck cholera.

Pathogens associated with pleuritic pig lungs at an abattoir in Queensland Australia

C. Turni et al.

Summary: This study analyzed lung samples from 46 batches of pigs representing 46 farms in Queensland, Australia, and found that pathogens such as Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae, Streptococcus suis, and Porcine Circovirus type 2 were prevalent. The high percentage of batches infected with these pathogens suggests synergistic interactions may have resulted in pleurisy.

Gamma-Irradiated Fowl Cholera Mucosal Vaccine: Potential Vaccine Candidate for Safe and Effective Immunization of Chicken Against Fowl Cholera

Bereket Dessalegn et al.

Summary: The study aimed to develop and evaluate gamma-irradiated mucosal FC vaccines for national use. Results showed that the candidate vaccine administered intranasally and intraocularly at a dose of 0.3 ml provided 100% protection, indicating its potential for use in chicken immunization against FC.

Immune Protective Efficacy of China's Traditional Inactivated and Attenuated Vaccines against the Prevalent Strains of Pasteurella multocida in Mice

Li-Jun Guan et al.

Summary: The traditional Pasteurella multocida vaccines in China provide good protection against homologous strains but do not offer cross-protection against heterologous strains in a mouse model. Mice immunized with conventional vaccines generated higher antibody titers, with the inactivated Alh-C44-1 vaccine showing significantly higher IgG levels compared to the live EO630 vaccine.
