From Raising Awareness to a Behavioural Change: A Case Study of Indoor Air Quality Improvement Using IoT and COM-B Model

Summary: The topic of indoor air pollution has received less attention compared to ambient pollution. However, it is important to address as poor indoor air quality impacts a large percentage of the population, especially those with respiratory and health conditions. This research focuses on using indoor air quality (IAQ) sensor data and digital interventions to support behavior change in indoor activities. Two studies were conducted, one examining the effectiveness of IAQ data visualization to raise awareness without a formal behavior change model, and the other showcasing the use of a behavior psychology model, COM-B, to implement digital interventions. The results demonstrated the potential to change behavior and improve indoor air quality through these interventions.
