SoySNP618K array: A high-resolution single nucleotide polymorphism platform as a valuable genomic resource for soybean genetics and breeding

Yan-Fei Li et al.

Summary: The development and validation of the SoySNP618K array, a genomic tool for soybean, is described. This array contains a large number of SNPs and can be used for gene bank management, population stratification analysis, and genome-wide association mapping. The array enables the fine-mapping of key genes influencing flowering and maturity time in soybean and demonstrates its importance in applied breeding and basic crop research.

Coordinate Inheritance of Seed Isoflavone and Protein in Soybean

Qingsong Zhao et al.

Summary: This study investigated the genetic relationship between isoflavone, protein, and oil content in soybean seeds. The results showed a significant correlation between protein and isoflavone content, but not oil. By identifying specific loci, the genetic mechanism of isoflavone production was elucidated. Additionally, it was discovered that seed protein and isoflavone content may be coordinately inherited genetically.

Genome wide association study to detect genetic regions related to isoflavone content in a mutant soybean population derived from radiation breeding

Jung Min Kim et al.

Summary: This study used genome-wide association mapping to identify and validate quantitative trait nucleotides (QTNs) related to isoflavone contents in soybean seeds. Several QTNs related to isoflavone contents were detected, and significant differences in the transcript levels of core genes in the isoflavone biosynthetic pathway were found between the original cultivar and its mutant. These findings are important for breeding soybean lines with high and stable concentrations of isoflavones.

Comprehensive identification and characterization of abiotic stress and hormone responsive glycosyl hydrolase family 1 genes in Medicago truncatula

Junfeng Yang et al.

Summary: This study identified and classified 51 BGLU genes in the model legume plant Medicago truncatula, revealing their distinct expression patterns in response to various abiotic stresses and hormonal cues. The results suggest that BGLU genes play crucial roles in plant physiological processes by activating phytohormones and defense compounds in response to stressors. Further analysis indicated conserved motifs and dual targeting of MtBGLU proteins to vacuole and/or chloroplast, as well as identification of regulatory elements related to stress and phytohormones.

Differential Gene Expression Associated with Altered Isoflavone and Fatty Acid Contents in Soybean Mutant Diversity Pool

Dong-Gun Kim et al.

Summary: The study investigated the metabolic properties of 208 soybean mutant diversity pool (MDP) lines by measuring the isoflavone and fatty acid contents of the seed. Differences in gene expression patterns were observed among individuals and wild-types at different stages, with six lines showing altered isoflavone content and six lines showing altered oleic acid content selected for further analysis. The results provide insights into the regulatory genes involved in the isoflavone and fatty acid biosynthetic pathways in soybean.
