Rewiring of the seed metabolome during Tartary buckwheat domestication

Hui Zhao et al.

Summary: Crop domestication leads to changes in the metabolites of Tartary buckwheat, with several genes identified as responsible for the synthesis of important medicinal components and defense molecules such as salicylic acid. The lower expression of these genes is associated with a reduction in salicylic acid and other medicinal compounds.

Deciphering allelic variability and population structure in buckwheat: An analogy between the efficiency of ISSR and SSR markers

Sabreena et al.

Summary: The study showed that both ISSR and SSR markers were effective in detecting polymorphism in buckwheat germplasm, with SSRs having a higher average PIC value and ISSRs having a higher resolving power. Hierarchical cluster analysis divided genotypes into three major clusters, with both marker systems accurately grouping buckwheat genotypes by their geographical origins.
