KEGG for taxonomy-based analysis of pathways and genomes

Minoru Kanehisa et al.

Summary: KEGG is a manually curated database resource that integrates various biological objects classified into systems, genomic, chemical, and health information. Through the KEGG identifier and URL links, users can retrieve and browse information for different biological objects, including pathway maps, hierarchy, and genomes. KEGG has also improved KO assignment annotation and included more eukaryotic genomes for better representation of organisms in the taxonomic tree. The taxonomy mapping enables analysis of the conservation of functional and physical links among genes in different organism groups.

Construction of an immune-related prognostic model by exploring the tumor microenvironment of clear cell renal cell carcinoma

Jia He et al.

Summary: This study screened candidate prognosis-related genes of ccRCC by analyzing the TME, established a prognostic risk model, and identified 7 immune-related signature genes through regression analysis. The results contribute to understanding the impact of TME on patient prognosis and progression of ccRCC, as well as potential biomarkers.

Comprehensive analysis to identify GNG7 as a prognostic biomarker in lung adenocarcinoma correlating with immune infiltrates

Qin Wei et al.

Summary: Low expression of G Protein Subunit Gamma 7 (GNG7) is closely associated with poor prognosis and tumor immune cell infiltration (especially B cells) in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD). Methylation may contribute to the low expression of GNG7 in LUAD.

Summary: Every year, the American Cancer Society projects the numbers of new cancer cases and deaths in the United States, with the latest data showing a significant decline in lung cancer mortality, while prostate cancer mortality has plateaued and breast and colorectal cancer mortality have slowed. Improvements in treatment have accelerated progress against lung cancer, leading to a record drop in overall cancer mortality.

Development of an immune-related prognostic index associated with osteosarcoma

Chao-Dong Yin et al.

Summary: This study constructed an immune-related prognostic index to predict the prognosis of osteosarcoma (OS) by identifying four key prognostic immune-related genes. Gene set enrichment analysis revealed the relationship between risk score and cytokine receptor interaction as well as chemokine and B cell receptor signaling pathways. High risk was associated with the infiltration of multiple immune cell types, suggesting potential impact on immune-related biological processes and tumor-infiltrating immune cells.

G protein gamma 7 suppresses progression of lung adenocarcinoma by inhibiting E2F transcription factor 1

Hongyu Zheng et al.

Summary: The G protein gamma 7 (GNG7) has been found to be aberrantly expressed in certain malignant tumors, with a study focusing on its antitumor role in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) cells. Down-regulation of GNG7 in LUAD tissues was found to correlate with patient survival. Functional experiments demonstrated that GNG7 acts as a tumor suppressor in LUAD cells by inhibiting E2F1 and suppressing cell proliferation, migration, and invasion.

MicroRNA miR-19b-3p mediated G protein γ subunit 7 (GNG7) loss contributes lung adenocarcinoma progression through activating Hedgehog signaling

Xia Zhao et al.

Summary: The study revealed that GNG7 is significantly down-regulated in LUAD tissues and cell lines, and its low expression is associated with poor prognosis in LUAD patients. Functional analysis demonstrated that GNG7 inhibits LUAD cell proliferation and invasion through the Hedgehog signaling pathway. Additionally, the study identified the miR-19b-3p/GNG7 axis as a potential therapeutic target for the treatment of LUAD.
