Survival, causes of death, and the prognostic role of comorbidities in chronic lymphocytic leukemia in the pre-ibrutinib era: A population-based study

Vilhjalmur Steingrimsson et al.

Summary: In a nationwide study in Sweden, the survival rate of chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) patients improved, partly due to a reduction in CLL-related mortality. Additionally, the mortality rate related to CLL increased in patients with comorbidities, highlighting the importance of newer and more tolerable targeted therapies.

Summary: In the treatment of chronic lymphocytic leukemia, fixed-duration venetoclax-obinutuzumab (Ven-Obi) demonstrated higher efficacy compared to chlorambucil-obinutuzumab (Clb-Obi) without impairing quality of life (QoL). Ven-Obi provided early relief of CLL-related symptoms in elderly unfit patients.
