Cationic antibacterial metal nanoclusters with traceable capability for fluorescent imaging the nano-bio interactions

Yixiao Li et al.

Summary: A thorough understanding of antimicrobial mechanism is crucial for developing novel antibacterial agents. In this study, cationic bovine serum albumin-protected AuAgNCs were synthesized and their antimicrobial process was investigated in real-time using fluorescence imaging. The cBSA-AuAgNCs exerted their antimicrobial effects by attaching on the outer membrane of bacteria without obvious internalization. Mechanistically, the cationic NCs caused disruption to the bacterial membrane due to strong electrostatic interactions, leading to the accumulation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and eventually bactericidal action.

Zn, O Co-adsorption based on MOF-5 for efficient capture of radioactive iodine

Rui-Li Yu et al.

Summary: It is important to develop and produce adsorbents with many active sites to remove iodine from nuclear waste gas due to its harmful effects on humans and the environment. By conducting experiments and molecular simulations, the performance and mechanism of iodine capture by MOF-5 were investigated. The results showed that MOF-5 can effectively remove iodine from the gas phase and cyclohexane solution, with a high capture capacity and good recoverability and stability.

Valence-State-Engineered Electrochemiluminescence from Au Nanoclusters

Dongyang Wang et al.

Summary: A valence-state engineering strategy is developed to adjust the electrochemiluminescence (ECL) of metal nanoclusters (NCs). The ECL processes can be selectively generated and/or suppressed by adjusting the Au(I)/Au(0) ratio, tunable ECL generation route, and triggering potential.

Amplification-free CRISPR/Cas detection technology: challenges, strategies, and perspectives

Huimin Li et al.

Summary: Rapid and accurate molecular diagnosis is crucial for precision medicine, food safety, and environmental monitoring. CRISPR/Cas-based detection has become an effective tool for molecular diagnosis due to its outstanding advantages. However, existing methods typically require pre-amplification, and the development of target amplification-free CRISPR/Cas-based detection still faces challenges.

Facile and Scalable Synthesis of Whiskered Gold Nanosheets for Stretchable, Conductive, and Biocompatible Nanocomposites

Chaehong Lim et al.

Summary: This study reports a facile and scalable method for the synthesis of whiskered gold nanosheets (WAuNSs) that serve as conductive fillers for stretchable, conductive, and biocompatible nanocomposites. The addition of platinum-coated WAuNSs significantly improves the performance of the nanocomposites, enabling the fabrication of stretchable bioelectrodes.

A Sensitive and Nonoptical CRISPR Detection Mechanism by Sizing Double-Stranded lambda DNA Reporter

Noor Mohammad et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates a novel CRISPR-Cas12a-based sensing platform for detecting single-stranded DNA targets by quantifying the size reduction of double-stranded DNA as report molecules. It is simple, inexpensive, non-optical, and exhibits high sensitivity compared to fluorescent methods.

Enhancing CRISPR-Cas-Mediated Detection of Nucleic Acid and Non-nucleic Acid Targets Using Enzyme-Labeled Reporters

Devleena Samanta et al.

Summary: We introduce a new method for generating amplified signals in CRISPR-Cas-based detection, achieving detection of HRP-labeled oligonucleotides through catalytic cleavage and monitoring the released HRP through colorimetric, fluorometric, or luminescent approaches. This method provides a simple and sensitive platform for detecting analytes where target amplification is inconvenient or impossible.

Label-free fluorescence aptasensor for the detection of patulin using target-induced DNA gates and TCPP/BDC-NH2 mixed ligands functionalized Zr-MOF systems

Xiaohai Yan et al.

Summary: A label-free fluorescent aptasensor was developed for the detection of patulin (PAT). By combining Zr-MOFmix system and ttsDNA gate, the controlled release of dyes was achieved, resulting in high signal-to-background ratio. This strategy has a low limit of detection and is suitable for the analysis of apple juice samples.

A dual engine-triggered DNA walker based on luminous perylene-TiO2 nanospheres for efficient electrochemiluminescence bioassay

Ni Liao et al.

Summary: In this work, a dual engine-triggered DNA walker was designed based on a precise orientation protocol, and Pe-TiO2 nanospheres were used as ECL emitters. The combination of the DNA walker and the ternary ECL system resulted in an efficient ECL bioassay platform for microRNA detection.
