Polysaccharide-based hydrogels crosslink density equation: A rheological and LF-NMR study of polymer-polymer interactions

Tilen Kopac et al.

Summary: A simple relation between pendant groups of polymers in hydrogels is introduced to determine the crosslink density of complex hydrogel systems. Furthermore, the rheological properties and their potential connection to design complex hydrogel systems with desired properties have been thoroughly investigated. The article also presents a new mathematical model for determining the crosslink density of crosslinked hydrogels and develops a combined use of rheology and low field nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy for the characterization of hydrogel networks.

Root Exudates Alters Nutrient Transport in Soil

Amit Paporisch et al.

Summary: Root exudates alter the physical properties of the rhizosphere, affecting solute transport in soil. Increased exudate concentrations lead to non-equilibrium solute transport, with more pronounced effects observed in coarser textured soil. Additionally, under unsaturated conditions, the presence of exudates results in altered solute breakthrough behavior.

Stimuli-Responsive Polysaccharide Hydrogels for Biomedical Applications: a Review

Iman Gholamali

Summary: This review introduces methods for obtaining polysaccharide hydrogels, their properties, and sensitivity to environmental stimuli, as well as their potential applications in biomedicine. Stimuli-responsive hydrogels can exhibit dramatic changes in their swelling behavior, network structure, permeability, and mechanical strength in response to variations in temperature, pH, glucose, electric field, light, etc. These changes are reversible, allowing hydrogels to revert to their initial state once the trigger is removed.
