Chorioallantoic membrane assay revealed the role of TIPARP (2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin-inducible poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase) in lung adenocarcinoma-induced angiogenesis

Kenji Miura et al.

Summary: The CAM assay was used to evaluate invasion and angiogenesis in lung cancer. It was found that A549-OKS cells showed enhanced invasion and angiogenesis on the CAM compared to A549-GFP cells, and A549-TIPARP cells promoted angiogenesis on the CAM by remodeling the extracellular matrix. The results suggest that the CAM assay can be used to evaluate and research invasion and angiogenesis in lung cancer.

Neuro-protective effects of nano-formulated hesperetin in a traumatic brain injury model of Danio rerio

Pragyan Paramita et al.

Summary: Understanding the mechanism behind neuronal regeneration is crucial for treating ischemic stroke and traumatic brain injury. This study assessed the neuro-protective potential of nano-formulated hesperetin in zebrafish, and found that it has a significant antioxidant capacity, reduces tissue damage, and induces the proliferation of neural stem cells without causing cell death.

Plant flavonoids: Classification, distribution, biosynthesis, and antioxidant activity

Nan Shen et al.

Summary: Flavonoids are natural polyphenol substances abundant in various plant-based foods. They have significant biological activities in both plants and humans, such as antioxidant, antimicrobial, and anti-inflammatory effects. However, research on their distribution, biosynthesis, and health benefits remains limited. Future opportunities in flavonoid research include biotechnology, therapeutic phytoproducts, and exploring dietary flavonoid bioavailability.

Anti-angiogenesis and anti-inflammatory effects of Moringa oleifera leaf extract in the early stages of streptozotocin-induced diabetic nephropathy in rats

Ruttiya Thongrung et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of Moringa oleifera leaf extract on angiogenesis and inflammatory processes in a rat model of streptozotocin-induced diabetic nephropathy. The results showed that the extract could suppress abnormal angiogenesis and inflammatory processes by downregulating the expression of angiogenesis factors and proinflammatory cytokines.

Nanotechnology as a Key to Enhance the Benefits and Improve the Bioavailability of Flavonoids in the Food Industry

Jocelyn C. Ayala-Fuentes et al.

Summary: Nanotechnology has had a significant impact on the food industry, particularly in the development of healthier and safer functional foods enriched with compounds like flavonoids. However, flavonoids face challenges such as low stability, sensitivity to light, poor water solubility, and limited bioavailability. Nanoencapsulation emerges as a promising strategy to address these challenges and enhance the delivery of flavonoids to different parts of the body.
