A bilayered scaffold with segregated hydrophilicity-hydrophobicity enables reconstruction of goat hierarchical temporomandibular joint condyle cartilage

Xi Yu et al.

Summary: The study developed a bilayered scaffold with segregated hydrophilicity-hydrophobicity to regenerate goat TMJ condyle cartilage, successfully inducing fibrocartilage and hyaline cartilage under the same chondrogenic conditions in vitro. The neocartilage fully covered the defects and consisted of ordered fibrocartilage and hyaline cartilage, resembling the natural condyle cartilage structure. This research offers a new strategy for designing and constructing bilayered scaffolds for the regeneration of complex hierarchical tissues.

Biomimetic, biodegradable, and osteoinductive Microgels with open porous structure and excellent injectability for construction of microtissues for bone tissue engineering

Pengfei Xia et al.

Summary: This study developed a biomimetic, biodegradable and osteoinductive microgel (40% Sr-HA/Microgel) to construct microtissues that promote bone tissue regeneration. The 40% Sr-HA/Microgels exhibit stable release of Sr2+ and excellent osteoinductivity, while also demonstrating outstanding biodegradable and injectable performances. This advanced microgel offers an accelerated therapeutic strategy for bone tissue engineering by supporting the formation of microtissues.
