Nanocomposite Photoanodes Consisting of p-NiO/n-ZnO Heterojunction and Carbon Quantum Dot Additive for Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells

Summary: In this study, nanocomposites of n-ZnO and p-NiO were used as photoanodes in DSSCs, and the addition of carbon quantum dots significantly improved the efficiency of solar cells. The p-n heterojunction between NiO and ZnO semiconductors facilitated faster charge separation and reduced electron recombination. Additionally, the doping of carbon quantum dots promoted charge carrier transport and reduced potential barriers at the interfaces, contributing to the enhancement of photovoltaic performance.
