Ketamine-induced hippocampal functional connectivity alterations associated with clinical remission in major depression

Summary: This study investigated the changes in hippocampal functional connectivity (FC) associated with clinical remission after repeated ketamine infusions. The results showed significant differences in hippocampus FC with the default mode network (DMN) and dorsal attention network (dAN) between remitters and nonremitters. Additionally, baseline hippocampus FC with these networks predicted the antidepressant effect of ketamine. These findings suggest that hippocampus FC with the DMN and dAN may have potential in predicting remission after ketamine treatment in major depressive disorder (MDD).
