Circular RNA circ_0002984 Promotes Cell Proliferation and Migration by Regulating miR-181b-5p/Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor Axis and PI3K-AKT Signaling Pathway in Oxidized Low-Density Lipoprotein-Treated Vascular Smooth Muscle Cells

Xichun Wang et al.

Summary: RNAs (circRNAs) have been found to play critical roles in atherosclerosis (AS), and circ_0002984 is identified as a new mechanism for AS pathogenesis by regulating the miR-181b-5p/VEGFA axis and PI3K-AKT pathway, which suppresses vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) proliferation and migration.

MCPIP1 promotes cell proliferation, migration and angiogenesis of glioma via VEGFA-mediated ERK pathway

Rui Wang et al.

Summary: Glioma, the most common malignant intracranial tumor, is associated with angiogenesis. This study shows that overexpressed MCPIP1 in glioma cells enhances angiogenesis by upregulating VEGFA expression and promoting secretion of VEGFA through the ERK pathway. Inhibition of VEGFA expression and secretion blocks MCPIP1-mediated angiogenesis and glioma progression.

lncRNA RP11-531A24.3 inhibits the migration and proliferation of vascular smooth muscle cells by downregulating ANXA2 expression

Yilin Wu et al.

Summary: The research identified that the long non-coding RNA RP11-531A24.3 regulates the proliferation and migration of vascular smooth muscle cells by controlling the expression of ANXA2, and hypoxic conditions may be one of the factors influencing the regulation of RP11-531A24.3 and its downstream targets.

Silencing of lncRNA SNHG12 inhibits proliferation and migration of vascular smooth muscle cells via targeting miR-766-5p/EIF5A axis

Wen Liu et al.

Summary: In this study, it was found that SNHG12 was significantly upregulated in oxidized low-density lipoprotein-induced human vascular smooth muscle cells (hVSMCs), and silencing of SNHG12 could inhibit cell proliferation and migration. Additionally, SNHG12 acted as a sponge of miR-766-5p and interacted with EIFSA. Overexpression of EIFSA promoted cell proliferation and migration, while shRNA-SNHG12 counteracted this promotion.

LncRNA BANCR induced vascular smooth muscle cell proliferation by downregulating miR-34c methylation in atherosclerosis

Xiao Jiang et al.

Summary: This study found that in atherosclerosis, BANCR is upregulated while miR-34c is downregulated. BANCR and miR-34c can directly interact, and BANCR overexpression induces HASMCs proliferation by reducing miR-34c methylation.
