Effects of UV Stellar Spectral Uncertainty on the Chemistry of Terrestrial Atmospheres

D. J. Teal et al.

Summary: The upcoming deployment of the James Webb Space Telescope will greatly enhance our understanding of exoplanet atmospheres, especially for smaller and cooler planets. The study finds that reconstructed host star spectra can effectively reproduce modern Earth-like atmospheres, but there are observable differences for hazy Archean atmospheres.

HAZMAT. VIII. A Spectroscopic Analysis of the Ultraviolet Evolution of K Stars: Additional Evidence for K Dwarf Rotational Stalling in the First Gigayear

Tyler Richey-Yowell et al.

Summary: Observations of 39 K stars show that their UV flux remains constant beyond 650 Myr before falling off significantly by field age, which is different from early M stars. This difference may be due to the spin-down stalling effect reported for K dwarfs. This implies that exoplanets orbiting K dwarfs may experience a stronger UV environment, weakening the case for K stars as hosts of potential super-habitable planets.

Gaia Early Data Release 3 Summary of the contents and survey properties

A. G. A. Brown et al.

Summary: Gaia EDR3 is the early installment of the third data release from the Gaia project, providing astrometry and photometry for 1.8 billion sources brighter than magnitude 21, along with radial velocities from Gaia DR2. The data processing precision and homogeneity have significantly improved compared to the previous version, with additional information on celestial bodies and an updated celestial reference frame.

The age of the carina young association and potential membership of HD 95086

Mark Booth et al.

Summary: The study reconfirmed the membership of the Carina stellar association, identified a new potential member, and determined the age of the association to be 13.3 million years, younger than previously thought.
