Constraining Baryon Loading Efficiency of Active Galactic Nuclei with Diffuse Neutrino Flux from Galaxy Clusters

The diffuse gamma-ray flux from clusters of galaxies

Summary: The origin of the diffuse gamma-ray background (DGRB) after subtracting individual sources remains unknown. The DGRB may include contributions from various source populations such as star-forming galaxies, starburst galaxies, active galactic nuclei, gamma-ray bursts, or galaxy clusters. Through Monte Carlo simulations, we combine cosmological magnetohydrodynamical simulations of galaxy clusters with the propagation of cosmic rays (CRs) and show that clusters can contribute up to 100% of the observed DGRB flux above 100 GeV for specific spectral indices and energy cutoffs. We predict the potential detection of high-energy gamma rays from clusters by future experiments.

Can the one-zone hadronuclear model explain the hard-TeV spectrum of BL Lac objects?

Summary: This study investigates whether the one-zone hadronuclear (pp) model can be used to interpret the hard-TeV spectra of BL Lacs without introducing extreme parameters. Analytical calculations suggest that only the hard-TeV spectrum of 1ES 0229+200 can be explained by gamma-rays from pi(0) decay produced in the pp interactions, but with a smaller radiation region than the Schwarzschild radius of the central black hole. Combined with previous studies, it is suggested that the hard-TeV spectra of BL Lacs cannot be explained by a one-zone model without extreme parameters, and likely originate from multiple radiation regions.

Constraining the Baryon Loading Factor of AGN Jets: Implication from the γ-Ray Emission of the Coma Cluster

Searching for High-energy Neutrino Emission from Galaxy Clusters with IceCube
