Simplified Synthesis and Stability Assessment of Aflatoxin B1-Lysine and Aflatoxin G1-Lysine

Justin B. Renaud et al.

Summary: This study reports a simplified synthetic route for the production of unlabelled and labelled aflatoxin B-1-lysine, as well as aflatoxin G(1)-lysine for the first time. The stability of these compounds during storage is also reported.

Multi-Omics Reveal Additive Cytotoxicity Effects of Aflatoxin B1 and Aflatoxin M1 toward Intestinal NCM460 Cells

Ya-Nan Gao et al.

Summary: This study using transcriptomic, proteomic, and microRNA sequencing approaches investigates the combined toxic effects of AFB1 and AFM1. The results show that the combined exposure of AFB1 and AFM1 decreases cell viability and activates the p53 signaling pathway.

Transcriptomics and flow cytometry reveals the cytotoxicity of aflatoxin B1 and aflatoxin M1 in bovine mammary epithelial cells

Kuntan Wu et al.

Summary: Aflatoxin can induce cytotoxicity and alter gene expressions in bovine mammary epithelial cells, leading to cell proliferation inhibition, apoptosis, and cell cycle arrest. Additionally, AFB(1) and AFM(1) affect RNA methylation modification and gene expression indirectly, providing new insights into their toxicity mechanisms.

Subcellular spatio-temporal intravital kinetics of aflatoxin B1 and ochratoxin A in liver and kidney

Ahmed Ghallab et al.

Summary: The study reveals significant differences in the distribution of mycotoxins in the kidneys and livers of mice, with distinct clearance rates and enrichment locations possibly influenced by specific cell types and expression. These local discrepancies may impact the metabolism and potential toxic effects of the toxins.

Protective effect of glutathione S-transferase enzyme activity against aflatoxin B1 in poultry species: relationship between glutathione S-transferase enzyme kinetic parameters, and resistance to aflatoxin B1

Hansen W. Murcia et al.

Summary: This study investigated the role of glutathione S-transferase (GST) activity in the trapping of aflatoxin B-1-8,9-epoxide (AFBO) with glutathione and its relationship with aflatoxin B-1 (AFB(1)) resistance in poultry. Significant differences were found in GST activity among chickens, quails, turkeys, and ducks, as well as differences based on sex within the same species. The results suggest that the differences in GST activity may contribute to the variation in AFB(1) metabolism and resistance among different poultry species.
