Multi-objective optimization of parametric design for profile ring rolling process based on residual stress control

Nan Lv et al.

Summary: This study focuses on the residual stress generated in the process of machining aerospace ring parts. By establishing mechanical model, finite element model, and response prediction model, the influence of main process parameters in the rolling process on residual stress is investigated. The optimal combination of process parameters is obtained based on the simulation results and the response model.

Multi-response optimization of the bulging-processed parameters for enhanced residual stress state of TC4-rolled rings

Nan Lv et al.

Summary: This study analyzed the issue of residual stress in the ring blank forgings of thin-walled casings and proposed the use of a segmental mandrel bulging process for stress control. The residual stress results were obtained through experiments and an empirical relationship between the process parameters and stress response was established. A prediction model was developed to optimize the stress condition.

Residual stress relief mechanisms of 2219 Al-Cu alloy by thermal stress relief method

Hechuan Song et al.

Summary: The evolution and distribution laws of residual stresses, mechanical properties, and microstructures of 2219 Al-Cu alloy thin-wall components after thermal stress relief (TSR) were investigated. The underlying mechanisms of residual stress relief by TSR were revealed. The results showed significant reduction in residual stresses and improvement in mechanical properties after TSR.

Reduction of Residual Quenching Stresses in 2A14 Aluminum Alloy Tapered Cylinder Forgings via a Novel Cold Bulging Process

Bingxiang Wang et al.

Summary: This study developed a novel cold bulging process to reduce quenching residual stresses in 2A14 forgings and improve their mechanical properties. Finite element method simulations and physical experiments demonstrated that the cold bulging process significantly enhanced the performance of the samples, especially at 3% cold bulging.
