Vibrio cholerae was found in cultured bullfrog

Yibin Yang et al.

Summary: In recent years, a fatal bacterial disease has been frequently found in cultured bullfrogs in China, causing severe intestinal inflammation and anal prolapse. The isolated bacterial pathogen was identified as Vibrio cholerae. This study revealed the presence of V. cholerae in diseased bullfrogs for the first time, providing a basis for the diagnosis and control of the disease.

Effects of dietary protein concentration on growth and anti-oxidant capacity of coho salmon Oncorhynchus kisutch (Walbaum, 1792) alevins

Cong-mei Xu et al.

Summary: A 12-week feeding trial was conducted to examine the effects of dietary protein concentrations on the growth, whole-body chemical composition, and hepatic anti-oxidant enzyme activities of coho salmon alevins. The results showed that diets with higher protein concentrations led to higher growth rate and lower feed conversion ratio. Additionally, the higher protein diet also increased hepatic anti-oxidant enzyme activities.

Thyroid and Corticosteroid Signaling in Amphibian Metamorphosis

Bidisha Paul et al.

Summary: Development in multicellular organisms relies on the integration of communication systems, particularly the neuroendocrine axes. The hypothalamic-pituitary-thyroid and hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal/interrenal axes play central roles in coordinating body morphogenesis. Thyroid hormones and corticosteroids have critical functions in metamorphosis of anuran amphibians and are involved in the developmental transition seen in vertebrates.

Effects of dietary arginine levels on growth, immune function of physical barriers and serum parameters of spotted seabass (Lateolabrax maculatus) reared at different water temperatures

Yunwang Cheng et al.

Summary: The study investigated the effects of dietary arginine levels on growth, immune function, and serum parameters of spotted seabass reared at different water temperatures. Results showed that fish reared at 27 degrees C exhibited higher growth and immune function compared to those reared at 33 degrees C. Optimal growth and immunity were observed when the arginine requirement of spotted seabass was met.
