Optimum operation of a novel ejector assisted flash steam cycle for better utilization of geothermal heat

Subha Mondal et al.

Summary: Utilizing saturated water exiting the high-pressure vapour separator as the motive stream for an ejector in a flash steam cycle can enhance power output and reduce thermal energy losses. The use of the ejector increases steam pressure and power output, leading to a 6.67% increase in maximum achievable power output and a 4.5% reduction in levelized cost of electricity compared to the baseline cycle.

Strategic integration of single flash geothermal steam cycle (SFGSC) and ejector assisted dual-evaporator organic flash refrigeration cycle (EADEOFRC) for power and multi-temperature cooling: 2nd law performance study

Subha Mondal et al.

Summary: In this study, an ejector-assisted dual-evaporator organic flash refrigeration cycle is integrated with a single flash geothermal steam cycle. The integrated cycle shows higher second law efficiency compared to the single flash geothermal steam cycle, but lower than a dual flash steam cycle. When components are removed, the organic flash refrigeration cycle only produces power output, while the integrated single flash geothermal steam cycle and organic flash refrigeration cycle yield higher efficiency than the dual flash steam cycle. Using n-pentane as the working fluid instead of isopentane slightly improves the performance of the combined cycle.

Economic examination and multi-objective optimization of integrating a novel geothermal-driven combined cooling and power (CCP) system using a bi-evaporator cycle with a low-temperature electrolyzer

Yan Cao et al.

Summary: This study proposes a novel waste heat recovery framework for a double-flash binary geothermal cycle and integrates a low-temperature electrolyzer to produce electricity, cooling, and hydrogen simultaneously. The optimization results show an exergy efficiency of 40.3% and a sum unit cost of 6.9 $/GJ. In the optimum state, the major irreversibility source is ejector 1, and turbine 1 is the expensive component among the established devices.

Yan Cao et al.

Summary: An innovative double-flash binary geothermal system integrated with ejector cooling cycle was designed for cogeneration purposes. The feasibility of the system was evaluated using exergy and thermal balance relations. Parameter evaluations showed that adjusting separator 2 pressure could optimize system performance, while booster pressure ratio and evaporator temperature also had significant impacts on system efficiency.
