Performance investigation of an ejector expansion refrigeration system working on different alternative refrigerants to R134a

Kadhim K. Idan Al-Chlaihawi et al.

Summary: This paper presents the performance characteristics of an ejector-expansion refrigeration cycle using six low GWP alternative refrigerants for R134a. The refrigerants are compared based on various parameters such as ejector area ratio, discharge temperature, volumetric cooling capacity, coefficient of performance, and exergy efficiency. The results show that R1234yf and R152a are suitable alternatives to R134a in terms of performance improvement.

Energetic, exergetic, economic, and environmental analysis of microchannel membrane-based absorption refrigeration system driven by various energy sources

Chong Zhai et al.

Summary: The MMARS system outperforms traditional absorption refrigeration systems in terms of energy efficiency and compactness, especially when driven by solar energy. Exergy analysis reveals that the desorber, absorber, and solution heat exchanger in the system have the highest exergy destruction rates. Economic analysis indicates that reducing the initial cost of the solar collector can improve the system's cost-effectiveness.

Experimental investigation of a two-phase ejector installed into the refrigeration system for performance enhancement

Kittiwoot Sutthivirode et al.

Summary: In this paper, the performance enhancement of a two-phase ejector installed in an ejector-expansion refrigeration system (EERS) is experimentally investigated and compared with a conventional vapour-compression refrigeration system (VCRS). The results show that the EERS performs better than the VCRS when the expansion pressure ratio is sufficiently large. Decreasing the cooling temperature can increase the system's performance and prolong the compressor's lifespan.

Summary: This paper experimentally investigates the performance enhancement of a two-phase ejector installed in a refrigeration system, comparing it with a conventional vapour-compression refrigeration system. Results show that the ejector-expansion refrigeration system (EERS) outperforms the vapor-compression refrigeration system (VCRS) when the expansion pressure ratio is sufficiently large, leading to improved system COP and compressor longevity.
