Mutual Information-Based Modeling for Services Dependency

Roaa A. ElGhondakly et al.

Summary: Web services composition has become a crucial area in computing industries, but it faces challenges in modeling dependencies, complexity, user requests handling, and scalability concerns. This paper proposes a graph-based modeling approach called Mutual Information-based Services Dependency (MISD) model, which constructs accurate services dependency graphs using a modified version of mutual information as the dependency metric. The experimental analysis shows significant improvement in efficiency and accuracy compared to state-of-the-art models.

Parallel computing and swarm intelligence based artificial intelligence model for multi-step-ahead hydrological time series prediction

Wen-jing Niu et al.

Summary: The research developed a parallel computing and swarm intelligence based artificial neural network for multi-step-ahead hydrological time series prediction, achieving satisfactory results in forecasting runoff time series at two real-world hydrological stations in China. The proposed method surpassed conventional forecasting methods, improving the Nash-Sutcliffe efficiency value by about 6.4% in the testing phase for the 2-step ahead case, showcasing the utilization of swarm intelligence algorithm and high-performance parallel computing technique to enhance artificial intelligence model performances in time series forecasting.
