A detailed comparative performance analysis of the Transition Metal Di-chalcogenides (TMDs) based strain sensors through experimental realisations and first principle calculations

Naveen Bokka et al.

Summary: This study investigates the fabrication and electrical characteristics of strain sensors based on five different TMDs, correlating the sensing performance with electronic properties analyzed using Density Functional Theory (DFT). It shows that the response of TMDs to applied strain depends on their carrier concentrations, energy bandgaps, and Density of States (DOS). The study suggests that materials with lower bandgaps and higher DOS are better suited for physical sensing applications, as indicated by higher Gauge factors in selenides-based TMDs.

TeNWs/Ti3C2TX Nanohybrid-Based Flexible Pressure Sensors for Personal Safety Applications Using Morse Code

Vivek Adepu et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the fabrication and application of a pressure sensor based on tellurium nanowire and MXene nanohybrid. The fabricated sensor shows excellent sensitivity and stability, and can be used for personal safety applications using Morse code. Real-time ultraviolet photoelectron spectroscopy is used to analyze the band diagram of the nanohybrid and explain the transduction mechanism of the sensor. An Android application is developed to wirelessly receive data from the sensors and display the pressed pattern in Morse code.

Highly Sensitive Capacitive Low-Pressure Graphene Porous Foam Sensors

Lekshmi A. Kurup et al.

Summary: This study develops highly sensitive capacitive pressure sensors operating in a low-pressure range using graphene-coated PDMS foams with different ranges of pore sizes. The pressure sensors with the highest variation in pore sizes over a wide range are the most sensitive, reaching a high sensitivity of 3.7 kPa(-1) for a range of 2-6 kPa. These pressure sensors have a low limit of detection and can detect small changes in pressure, demonstrating potential applications in wearable biomedical sensors.
