Mo-Modified ZnIn2S4@NiTiO3 S-Scheme Heterojunction with Enhanced Interfacial Electric Field for Efficient Visible-Light-Driven Hydrogen Evolution

Jiafeng Zhu et al.

Summary: Design and synthesis of a multifunctional Mo-modified ZIS wrapped NTO microrods photocatalyst with enhanced interfacial electric field (IEF) effect and typical S-scheme heterojunction is reported. The catalyst exhibits wide-spectrum light absorption properties, excellent visible light-to-thermal energy effect, electron mobility, charges transfer, and strong IEF, resulting in efficient visible-light-driven photocatalytic hydrogen evolution. The Mo-1.4-ZIS@NTO catalyst shows superior performance with a high H2 evolution rate and apparent quantum efficiency.

A wire-shaped and high-sensitivity photoelectrochemical ultraviolet photodetector based on TiO2 nanotube arrays

Gang Wang et al.

Summary: This work demonstrates a wire-shaped photoelectrochemical type ultraviolet photodetector based on a titanium dioxide nanotube array (TNAs) photoanode fabricated by electrochemical anodization. The detector exhibits high photocurrent density, high ON/OFF ratio, and fast response time, as well as visible-blind characteristics and excellent linear response under weak irradiation. These results are beneficial for the realization of omnidirectional and wearable optoelectronic devices.

Effect of ruthenium(II)-bipyridine complex photosensitizer on the panchromatic light absorption and electron transfer in N719-dye sensitized photoanodes

Jun Di Cheng et al.

Summary: In this study, a co-sensitizer named Ru-1 was synthesized and used for N719-dye sensitized photoanodes. Results showed that Ru-1 had an absorption peak within the range of 400-500 nm, compensating for the insufficient light absorption of N719 dye in this region. The molecular orbital difference between Ru-1 and N719 dyes supported the regeneration of N719 dyes. As a result, DSSCs with Ru-1/N719 composite photosensitizer showed a 19% improvement in PCE compared to those with N719 dyes.

Modification of NiTiO3 visible light-driven photocatalysts by Nb doping and NbOx heterojunction: Oxygen vacancy in the Nb-doped NiTiO3 structure

Kaiming Jiang et al.

Summary: In this study, two types of niobium-containing NiTiO3 photocatalysts were prepared to enhance photocatalytic activity for dye photodegradation under sunlight irradiation. Nb-doped NiTiO3 showed higher activity, while NbOx/NiTiO3 heterojunction led to decreased activity. The incorporation of Nb induced the formation of Ti3+ and Nb3+ sites, increasing oxygen vacancies and promoting the formation of a triple metal oxide phase.

Advanced research trends in dye-sensitized solar cells

Mikko Kokkonen et al.

Summary: This paper reviews the recent progress in DSSC research to achieve high photovoltaic efficiency and performance stability under typical indoor conditions by developing new device structures, alternative redox shuttles, solid-state hole conductors, TiO2 photoelectrodes, catalyst materials, and sealing techniques. It proposes a scalable cell fabrication process that integrates these developments to a new monolithic cell design based on several features. Finally, the need to design new stability testing protocols to assess the probable deployment of DSSCs in portable electronics and internet-of-things devices is discussed.
