Comparative study of lab-on-fiber vector magnetic field sensor based on multimode and few-mode fiber

Jia Wang et al.

Summary: A reflective vector magnetic field sensor with a wedge-shaped fiber tip based on surface plasmon resonance (SPR) and magnetic fluid (MF) has been fabricated and studied. The wedge-shaped fiber tip, obtained by grinding and polishing multimode fiber (MMF) and few-mode fiber (FMF), was plated with a nanoscale gold film to excite SPR. The fabricated tip was immersed in MF as the magnetic field sensitive material. Experimental results demonstrate that the magnetic field intensity and direction sensitivities of the sensors based on MMF and FMF are 2317 pm/mT, 497 pm/degrees and 6776 pm/mT, 2313 pm/degrees, respectively, indicating great potential of the proposed sensor for lab-on-fiber devices and applications.

Surface Plasmon Resonance Sensor Based on Core-Shell Fe3O4@SiO2@Au Nanoparticles Amplification Effect for Detection of T-2 Toxin

Lirui Fan et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a core-shell based on the Fe3O4@SiO2@Au nanoparticle amplification technique for a surface plasmon resonance (SPR) sensor. Fe3O4@SiO2@AuNPs were used to amplify SPR signals and separate and enrich T-2 toxin via a magnetic field. The amplification effect of Fe3O4@SiO2@AuNPs was evaluated using the direct competition method for the detection of T-2 toxin.

Magnetic Field and Temperature Dual-Parameter Sensor Based on Nonadiabatic Tapered Microfiber Cascaded With FBG

Yuxiu Zhang et al.

Summary: A dual-parameter sensor based on magnetic-fluid-coated nonadiabatic tapered microfiber cascaded with fiber Bragg grating is proposed and demonstrated experimentally. Simultaneous measurement of magnetic field and temperature is achieved by monitoring the interference spectrum and characteristic dip. The sensor shows high sensitivity, easy fabrication, compactness, robustness, and low cost, indicating its extensive application prospect.

Electrically terahertz switchable device based on superconducting composite structure metamaterial

Chun Li et al.

Summary: This work experimentally demonstrates an electrically tunable superconducting composite structure metamaterial that can modulate terahertz waves. Compared with other superconducting switching devices, this device is composed of golden structures and niobium nitride (NbN) film junctions, achieving relatively large amplitude modulation effects with small superconducting films. A modulation depth of 73.8% at 0.308 THz can be achieved with a 4V bias voltage. The experimental results agree well with simulations, and a hybrid coupling model is introduced to explain the physical mechanism behind the resonance mode transition. This work provides an alternative tuning method and a promising approach for designing active and miniaturized devices in THz cryogenic systems.

Long-Range Ordering Effects in Magnetic Nanoparticles

Summary: The study shows that smaller particles form clusters first, then guide chain formation through cluster-cluster interactions, while larger particles readily form chains through particle-particle interactions. In both cases, dipolar interactions between neighboring nanoparticles increase significantly, leading to a substantial enhancement in their collective magnetic features, resulting in an increase in magnetic particle hyperthermia efficiency by up to one order of magnitude.

Summary: Terahertz (THz) technology is crucial in various fields, and 3D printing materials often have high THz absorption rates. By mixing rice husk ash (RHA) with ABS, the refractive index can be increased and the absorption coefficient can be decreased, benefiting 3D printing applications in the far-infrared and THz range.
