A Review on Photocatalysis Used For Wastewater Treatment: Dye Degradation

Harita Kumari et al.

Summary: Water pollution is a global issue caused by rapid industrialization and urbanization. Metal oxide-based semiconductors have been explored as photocatalysts to degrade organic pollutants in wastewater, but their performance is limited. Strategies such as doping, nanocomposite formation, and core-shell nanostructures have been discussed to improve their photocatalytic activity. Rare-earth doped metal oxides show advantages in interacting with functional groups quickly. This review article focuses on synthesizing rare earth doped metal oxides and nanocomposites, their efficiency in degrading organic pollutants, and potential industrial applications.

Spinel ferrites/metal oxide nanocomposites for waste water treatment

Harita Sonia et al.

Summary: This paper comprehensively reviews the research interest in MFe2O4 and its nanocomposites with specific metal oxides (ZnO, TiO2, CeO2) for decontamination of wastewater using photocatalysts. The stable and easily separable magnetic behavior of MFe2O4 nanoparticles make them attractive for this application. The paper discusses the advantageous pathway for the generation of free radicals with the help of MFe2O4-based nanocomposites as photocatalysts.

Efficient degradation of orange II by core shell CoFe2O4-CeO2 nanocomposite with the synergistic effect from sodium persulfate

Fang Zhu et al.

Summary: A novel core-shell CoFe2O4-CeO2 nanocomposite was successfully synthesized and investigated as an efficient photocatalyst to activate sodium persulfate for orange II degradation. The nanocomposite exhibited significantly improved photocatalytic efficiency compared to pure CoFe2O4 and CeO2. It could efficiently degrade orange II under visible light irradiation, and the material could be recycled multiple times due to its magnetic separation ability.

Resources and environmental costs of China's rapid economic growth: From the latest theoretic SEEA framework to modeling practice

Xiang Sun et al.

Summary: China's rapid economic growth since reform and opening-up has come at the cost of resource depletion and environmental pollution. Despite efforts to reduce environmental impact, China still faces challenges in managing resource depletion and pollution as it continues to depend heavily on natural resources for economic growth. However, there has been a general decline in the share of resource and environmental costs to China's GDP over time, with the green GDP of China growing at an average rate of 14.76%. Through analysis using various methods, the driving forces behind China's progress in green GDP have been identified.
