Mechanistic Insights for Nitromethane Activation into Reactive Nitrogenating Reagents

Zheng-Wang Qu et al.

Summary: Nitromethane can be activated into a nitrogenating reagent for the synthesis of amide and nitrile compounds under different solvent conditions using different mechanisms. In aqueous conditions, acid hydrolysis leads to the formation of NH3OH+ and HCOOH as products; while in non-aqueous conditions, a multi-step nitrogenating reaction produces the more reactive nitrogenating reagent AcONH3+.

Ren Feng et al.

Summary: Theoretical investigation of acetylene hydrogenation over FeO, Fe2O3, and Fe3O4 clusters reveals Fe2O3 cluster to have the lowest barriers for the desired reactions, making it the most kinetically favorable for acetylene to ethane hydrogenation process.

A sustainable way to reuse Cr(VI) into an efficient biological nanometer electrocatalyst by Bacillus megaterium

Shunling Li et al.

Summary: The study proposed a new method to convert Cr(VI) into bio-Cr2O3 nanoparticles using B. megaterium-secreted TPN, achieving a high conversion efficiency of 96.56%. The bio-Cr2O3 NPs exhibited excellent catalytic activity in 1 M KOH, surpassing chemically synthesized Cr-based catalysts. The role of TPN in the formation of bio-Cr(2)O(3)NPs was confirmed through various analyses, opening up possibilities for sustainable energy development and heavy metal pollution remediation.
