Boosting full-spectrum light driven surface lattice oxygen activation of ZnMn2O4 by facet engineering for highly efficient photothermal mineralization of toluene

Qiang Cheng et al.

Summary: The catalytic activity of photothermal catalysts for efficient mineralization of volatile organic compounds can be improved by controlling the exposed facets of ZnMn2O4 (ZMO-H, ZMO-R, and ZMO-C). Experimental and theoretical studies show that ZMO-H is more favorable for activating surface lattice oxygen compared to ZMO-R and ZMO-C, due to its stronger light absorption, higher surface lattice oxygen content, and lower oxygen dissociation energy. Theoretical calculations further confirm that toluene is more easily adsorbed by ZMO-H. This study highlights the crucial role of facet-dependent activation of surface lattice oxygen in the photothermal oxidation of toluene.

Achieving efficient toluene mineralization over ordered porous LaMnO3 catalyst: The synergistic effect of high valence manganese and surface lattice oxygen

Qiang Cheng et al.

Summary: In this study, a porous LaMnO3 catalyst was fabricated using ordered mesoporous carbon as a hard-template to investigate the role of high valence manganese and surface lattice oxygen in the catalytic combustion of toluene. The optimal porous LaMnO3 exhibited enhanced catalytic performance for toluene combustion and showed higher surface Mn4+/Mn3+ and O-latt/O-ads ratios, which exposed abundant active sites and promoted the low-temperature catalytic oxidation of toluene. The increased content of high valence manganese and surface lattice oxygen in the porous LaMnO3 catalyst accelerated toluene deep oxidation and improved its efficiency and stability in VOCs catalytic combustion.

Emission tunable AgInS2 quantum dots synthesized via microwave method for white light-emitting diodes application

Zehao Hu et al.

Summary: The microwave organic phase preparation of AgInS2 quantum dots is crucial for their large-scale, green, and efficient production. Using commercial glycerol as the microwave absorber, AgInS2 quantum dots were successfully synthesized in a nonpolar organic solvent. The prepared quantum dots exhibited tunable photoluminescent properties and an increased quantum yield after ZnS layer decoration. When combined with Y3Al5-xGaxO12:Ce(3+ )phosphors and a blue chip, a white light-emitting diode (WLED) with excellent color rendering, correlated color temperature, and luminous efficiency was fabricated, indicating promising applications in illumination. The research presents a novel approach for the fast and efficient synthesis of I-III-VI semiconductor quantum dots in a nonpolar solvent through microwave method.

Nb-O-C Charge Transfer Bridge in 2D/2D Nb2O5/g-C3N4 S-Scheme Heterojunction for Boosting Solar-Driven CO2 Reduction: In Situ Illuminated X-Ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy Investigation and Mechanism Insight

Kai Wang et al.

Summary: In this study, a 2D/2D Nb2O5/g-C3N4 S-scheme heterojunction photocatalyst was successfully fabricated for the photocatalytic CO2 reduction reaction. Under simulated solar irradiation, the optimized sample exhibited 6.7 times and 5.3 times higher total yield of C-1 products (CH4 and CO) compared to pristine Nb2O5 and g-C3N4 nanosheets, respectively, without sacrificial agent or cocatalysts. The improved performance of CO2 photoreduction can be attributed to the unique charge transfer bridge, face-to-face contact, and efficient S-scheme transfer path of photoinduced electron-hole pairs in the heterojunction.
