Direct conversion of furfural to 1,5-pentanediol over a nickel-cobalt oxide-alumina trimetallic catalyst

The presence of a selected solvent greatly affected the reducibility of Pt and competed with the adsorbates for the occupancy of surface sites, affecting the shape, position, and intensity of the infrared signals corresponding to the surface Pt-H and Pt-CO species.

Fabrication of Zirconium-Doped Activated Carbon by Chemical Activation for Catalytic Transfer Hydrogenation of 5-Hydroxymethylfurfural into 2,5-Dihydroxymethylfuran

Efficient synthesis of the liquid fuel 2,5-dimethylfuran from biomass derived 5-(chloromethyl)furfural at room temperature

Summary: The synthesis of renewable transportation fuel 2,5-dimethylfuran (DMF) from biomass was studied. It was found that the in-situ generation of acidic species and Pd-Cl active sites showed high selectivity and activity towards hydrogenolysis of biomass-derived 5-(chloromethyl)furfural (CMF) to DMF. The method achieved a 92% DMF yield from CMF in 15 minutes, with a space-time-yield at least one order of magnitude higher than previous literature using 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) as substrate.

Atomically-ordered active sites in NiMo intermetallic compound toward low-pressure hydrodeoxygenation of furfural
