In Situ X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS) Demonstrated Graphdiyne (g-CnH2n-2) Based GDY-CuI/NiV-LDH Double S-Scheme Heterojunction for Efficient Photocatalytic Hydrogen Evolution

Mei Li et al.

Summary: Graphdiyne (GDY) is prepared using Cu+ as a catalyst and anchored with nickel-vanadium hydro calcite (NiV-LDH) to form a double S-scheme heterojunction photocatalytic hydrogen precipitation system. This heterojunction improves the transfer rate of photogenerated carriers and the catalytic stability of the composite. The production of H2 in triethanolamine solution is significantly higher compared to NiV-LDH and NiV-LDH/CuI. This work provides an effective strategy for the rational construction and application of graphdiyne group heterostructures in the field of photocatalytic hydrogen evolution.

The strong interaction and confinement effect of Ag@NH2-MIL-88B for improving the conversion and durability of photocatalytic Cr(VI) reduction in the presence of a hole scavenger

Qi Wang et al.

Summary: Selective regulation of active factors in photocatalytic reactions through material design is crucial. Researchers prepared spindle-like core-shell Ag@NH2-MIL-88B composites (Ag@NM-88) using a two-step hydrothermal method. The core-shell structure of Ag@NM-88 not only enhanced light absorption but also facilitated the separation of photogenerated e- and h+. It effectively prevented photogenerated e- from combining with O2, thus improving Cr(VI) reduction rate. This work provides a strategy for selectively regulating photoactive components and sheds light on interfacial charge transfer and molecular oxygen activation in photocatalytic reduction systems.

g-C3N4-Based Direct Z-Scheme Photocatalysts for Environmental Applications

Javier Fernandez-Catala et al.

Summary: Photocatalysis is a promising technology for addressing the environmental crisis. One of the most representative photocatalysts is graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4), known for its stability, cost-effectiveness, facile synthesis procedure, and absorption properties in visible light. However, the original g-C3N4 still demonstrates low photoactivity due to quick recombination of photo-induced electron-hole pairs. To overcome this limitation, Z-scheme photocatalysts based on g-C3N4 are considered superior alternatives, as they have the same band configuration but a different charge carrier recombination mechanism.

Interface engineering: Construction of an effective interfacial charge transfer channel via CeO2/CoSx S-scheme heterojunction

Zhiliang Jin et al.

Summary: The designing of an appropriate interface is crucial for improving the performance of photocatalysts. In this study, a core-shell structure of ceria (CeO2)-cerium hydrocarbonate (CeCO3OH) was synthesized using ribbon-like CeO2 as the precursor. Simultaneously, amorphous CoSx ultrafine nanoparticles were grown in-situ on the surface of the core-shell structure, forming an S-scheme heterojunction with an appropriate interface. The heterojunction effectively inhibits the recombination of photogenerated electron-hole pairs, leading to enhanced photocatalytic hydrogen evolution performance. The results demonstrate the indispensability of CeCO3OH in constructing the heterojunction. This work provides methods and guidance for constructing S-scheme heterojunctions composed of multivariate photocatalysts using an in-situ approach.
