From hydrogen autotransfer process to deuterium autotransfer process: The N-trideuteromethylation of amines with deuterated methanol to trideuteromethylated amines catalyzed by a Cp*Ir complex bearing a flexible bridging and functional ligand

Peng Liu et al.

Summary: A flexible and functional Cp*Ir complex bearing a 6,6'-(OH)(2)-2,2'-dipyridylamine ligand has been designed, synthesized, and found to be a general and efficient catalyst for the synthesis of trideuteromethylated amines through the N-trideuteromethylation of amines with deuterated methanol. The strategy offers advantages of readily available deuterium source, high atom efficiency, and environmental friendliness. The catalytic activity was confirmed to be dependent on the -OH units in the ligand, and a metal-ligand cooperative mechanism was proposed based on experimental results and DFT calculations.

Rollover Cyclometalation as a Valuable Tool for Regioselective C-H Bond Activation and Functionalization

Antonio Zucca et al.

Summary: Rollover cyclometalation is a unique reaction where a chelated heterocyclic ligand undergoes internal rotation to activate a remote C-H bond, forming a novel cyclometalated complex with unique properties. The rollover ligand, with an uncoordinated donor atom, displays multiple personalities and enables a series of distinct reactions, leading to potential applications in catalysis, organic synthesis, and advanced materials.

Tuning the Photophysical and Electrochemical Properties of Aza-Boron-Dipyridylmethenes for Fluorescent Blue OLEDs

Abegail C. Tadle et al.

Summary: Substituted aza-boron-dipyridylmethene (aD) compounds have been demonstrated as efficient fluorescent dopant emitters in blue organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs), emitting violet to blue light with high photoluminescent quantum yields. The destabilization of the highest occupied molecular orbital in aD leads to small energy differences between their singlet and triplet excited states, contributing to the high external quantum efficiency of OLEDs with aza-boron-dipyridylmethene emitting fluorophores.
