Advanced charge transfer technology for highly efficient and long-lived TADF-type organic afterglow with near-infrared light-excitable property

Guangming Wang et al.

Summary: By incorporating advanced charge transfer (CT) technology, we designed difluoroboron beta-diketonate (BF(2)bdk) CT compounds with moderate singlet-triplet splitting energy and relatively large spin-orbit coupling matrix elements, achieving efficient intersystem crossing (ISC) and moderate rates of reverse intersystem crossing (RISC). The organic matrices suppress nonradiative decay of BF(2)bdk's T-1 states, leading to high afterglow efficiency, long lifetimes, and excellent processability for TADF-type organic afterglow materials.

Chiroptical Activity of An Achiral Emissive Eu Metal-Organic Framework

Yuan Li et al.

Summary: In this study, an achiral emissive Eu MOF was reported, and its chiroptical properties in the ground and excited states were investigated. The framework crystallized in an achiral space group, where the asymmetric arrangement of racemic trinuclear Eu-oxo clusters was responsible for the optical activity. A pair of circular dichroisms and circularly polarized luminescence with opposite signs were observed for single crystals. The luminescence dissymmetry factor reached a magnitude comparable to that of most chiral-linker-bridged MOFs. This work presents the first example of achiral MOFs with CPL response and has implications for the discovery of more CPL emitters from racemic MOF family.

Au(I)-TADF Emitters for High Efficiency Full-Color Vacuum-Deposited OLEDs and TADF-Sensitized Fluorescent OLEDs with Ultrahigh Brightness and Prolonged Operational Lifetime

Rui Tang et al.

Summary: This article reports a class of structurally simple and operationally stable Au(I)-TADF materials based on a carbene-metal-amide (CMA) molecular scaffold. These CMA(Au) emitters show strong TADF emissions and high radiative decay rate constants in thin film samples. The vacuum-deposited Au(I) OLEDs exhibit superior electroluminescence with high brightness, high external quantum efficiencies, and long device lifetimes. The CMA(Au) emitter can also be used as a sensitizer in TADF-sensitized fluorescent OLEDs to achieve high EQEs.

Strong Circularly-Polarized Room-Temperature Phosphorescence from a Feasibly Separable Scaffold of Bidibenzo[b,d]furan with Locked Axial Chirality

Wenbin Huang et al.

Summary: In this study, a new bidibenzo[b,d]furan compound was reported to exhibit strong circularly-polarized RTP when doped into a rigid polymer matrix. The absolute chiral R-isomer could be separated using a simple silica-gel column. The treated films showed high RTP efficiency, dissymmetric factor, and lifetime under ambient conditions. It was found that reducing nonradiative decays could enhance circularly-polarized RTP emission.

Optical Activity from Anisotropic-Nanocluster-AssembledSupercrystals in Achiral Crystallographic Point Groups

Hao Li et al.

Summary: This study reports the surprising observation of optical activity in several achiral point groups for supercrystals assembled from anisotropic metal nanoclusters with atomic precision. The molecular anisotropy of nanocluster entities and their asymmetric arrangement in point groups were identified as the key factors for the realization of optical activity in such supercrystals. Furthermore, the polarization effect of the nanocluster supercrystals was exploited as a polarization switch to alter the polarized state of light.
