A ratiometric fluorescent sensor for the detection of phosphate

Jiayi Liu et al.

Summary: Ratiometric fluorescent nanoprobes have been developed to detect phosphate by encapsulating luminescent materials, AuNCs and CDs, into ZIF-8. The fluorescence signal of AuNCs was enhanced, while that of CDs was suppressed. The addition of phosphate decomposed ZIF-8, releasing AuNCs and CDs, weakening the fluorescence signal of AuNCs and restoring that of CDs.

Ratiometric fluorescent detection of total phosphates in frozen shrimp samples using catalytic active Zr(IV) modified gold nanoclusters

Yuting He et al.

Summary: Phosphate salts are important food additives and a study has developed a new method for their detection using Zr(IV) modified gold nanoclusters (Au NCs). The synthesized Zr(IV)/Au NCs showed enhanced orange fluorescence at 610 nm and retained the phosphatase-like activity of Zr(IV) ions. By measuring the change in fluorescence intensity ratio (I450/I610), the method successfully detected phosphates in frozen shrimp samples.

Rational design of COF-MOF composites for ratiometric fluorescence detection of phosphate

Yun-Jie Yu et al.

Summary: Integrating covalent organic framework (COF)-metal organic framework (MOF) hybrid materials is an effective way to develop a ratiometric fluorescence method. In this study, lanthanide organic frameworks were grown on the surface of a COF, resulting in a COF-MOF with high thermal and chemical stability. The COF-MOF exhibited dual emissions and fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) process from the COF to MOF, making it suitable for ratiometric fluorescence detection of phosphate.

Ultrafast synthesized monometallic nanohybrids as an efficient quencher and recognition antenna of upconversion nanoparticles for the detection of xanthine with enhanced sensitivity and selectivity

Hongyu Chen et al.

Summary: Upconversion nanoparticles (UCNPs) have great potential in bioanalytical applications due to their excellent optical properties. However, the efficiency and signal-to-background ratio (SBR) of fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) based applications with UCNPs are hindered by the large number of emission center ions. In this study, a novel nanoprobe for the detection of Xanthine (XA) was developed based on inner filter effects (IFE) and cascade signal amplification strategy. The nanoprobe consisted of UCNP decorated with trypsin-chymotrypsin-stabilized gold nanoparticles-gold nanoclusters (Try-chy-AuNPs-AuNCs) monometallic nanohybrids, which showed efficient upconversion fluorescence quenching ability and improved the SBR and sensitivity of the probe.
