Does Sacrococcygeal Skeletal Morphology and Morphometry Influence Pressure Injury Formation in Adults?

Barbara Delmore et al.

Summary: This case-control pilot study examined the relationship between sacrococcygeal skeletal morphology and morphometry characteristics and pressure injuries. The results showed that patients with pressure injuries had different sacrococcygeal measurements compared to those without injuries, and the injuries were predominantly located distally. The study recommends further investigation of these characteristics in larger studies to determine their influence on sacrococcygeal pressure injuries.

Reconstruction of Sacral Pressure Ulcer Using a Modified Parasacral Perforator-Based Flap (Maple Leaf Design): An Easier Method for Beginners

Hyun Woo Kyung et al.

Summary: The study conducted 14 modified parasacral perforator-based flap procedures, with all 14 flaps surviving completely. One patient developed localized hematoma, and another presented with latent seroma. No donor or recipient site dehiscence or recurrence occurred during follow-up, demonstrating the effectiveness and safety of the modified design of bilobed flaps for covering small to moderately sized defects.
