Residential proximity to greenness mitigates the hemodynamic effects of ambient air pollution

Daniel W. Riggs et al.

Summary: Residential proximity to greenness is associated with lower risk of cardiovascular disease and reduced effects of air pollutants on arterial stiffness. In areas with low greenness, PM2.5 and ozone were positively associated with arterial stiffness, while in areas with high greenness, this association was not significant. This suggests that living in green neighborhoods can mitigate the adverse cardiovascular effects of air pollution.

Tetrahydrofuran-Based Transient Receptor Potential Ankyrin 1 (TRPA1) Antagonists: Ligand-Based Discovery, Activity in a Rodent Asthma Model, and Mechanism-of-Action via Cryogenic Electron Microscopy

Jack A. Terrett et al.

Summary: This study optimized a series of potent TRPA1 small molecule antagonists, leading to the discovery of a novel tetrahydrofuran-based linker. Compound 20 showed significant dose-dependent reduction of inflammatory response in a rat pain model and a guinea pig asthma model, and the structure of the TRPA1 channel bound to compound 21 was determined via cryogenic electron microscopy.

Acrolein but not its metabolite, 3-Hydroxypropylmercapturic acid (3HPMA), activates vascular transient receptor potential Ankyrin-1 (TRPA1): Physiological to toxicological implications

L. Jin et al.

Summary: The study found that acrolein has vasorelaxant effects at low levels but vasotoxic effects at high levels. Acrolein induces relaxation in mouse blood vessels through a TRPA1-dependent pathway, while high concentrations of acrolein can cause tension oscillations independent of TRPA1 in precontracted vessels.
