Physiologic and Clinical Features of the Paralympic Athlete's Heart

Summary: This study characterized the cardiovascular functioning of Paralympic athletes by sex, disability type, and sport discipline. The results showed that cardiac remodeling in Paralympic athletes varied by disability and sport discipline, with non-spinal cord injuries and endurance sports associated with the largest left ventricular cavity and mass, as well as the highest peak oxygen uptake.
